Zucchero raffinato

Tempo fa avevo sentito dire che "lo zucchero è veleno!" ma non ci ho fatto caso più di tanto e la cosa è finita lì.
Questi giorni mi è ritornato in mente ed ho fatto qualche ricerca.
Cavolo, sembra che lo zucchero raffinato sia proprio dannoso!

Poi ho scoperto che esiste una pianta, la Stevia, le cui foglie hanno un potere dolcificante 10/15 volte superiore a quello del comune zucchero.
Le caratteristiche principali di questa pianta sono:

• non causa il diabete
• non contiene calorie
• non altera il livello di zucchero nel sangue
• non ha tossicità (al contrario dei dolcificanti sintetici)
• non provoca carie
• può essere usata per cucinare

La cosa curiosa è che nel 1999 la World Health Organization ha deciso che la stevia non è accettabile come dolcificante e l'Unione Europea si è adeguata. Quindi ora è molto difficile reperirla.

Indro Montanelli, il più grande giornalista italiano scomparso nel 2001, lo conosceva bene, avendolo avuto per 15 anni come editore. E diceva: "Silvio Berlusconi è un mentitore professionale: mente a tutti, sempre anche a se stesso, al punto da credere alle sue stesse menzogne". Una pulsione incontenibile e irrefrenabile, quella del presidente del Consiglio italiano verso la menzogna. Persino in Tribunale. Infatti, il 22 ottobre 1990, la Corte d’Appello di Venezia l’ha riconosciuto colpevole di aver mentito ai giudici sotto giuramento: "Il Berlusconi - si legge nella sentenza - deponendo avanti il Tribunale di Verona, ha dichiarato il falso, realizzando gli estremi obiettivi e soggettivi del contestato delitto": cioè la falsa testimonianza, a proposito della sua iscrizione alla loggia massonica P2. Il reato, accertato, fu dichiarato estinto grazie a una provvidenziale amnistia approvata nel 1989.
Negli Stati Uniti la menzogna (specie se giurata dinanzi a un giudice) comporta l’immediato impeachment: il colpevole lascia la Casa Bianca. In Italia, entra a Palazzo Chigi. E, naturalmente, continua a mentire. Come prima e più di prima.
